Dear Swiss Club Members, friends and guests,

We need to rally together like the valiant Eidgenossen of old to stop the madness that has befallen our beloved Swiss Army knife! In a move that defies all logic and tradition, Victorinox has introduced a bladeless Swiss Army knife, the Jetsetter. Yes, you read that right – a Swiss Army knife without a blade. The very thought is enough to make any true Swiss soul shudder!

Now, I know what you might be thinking: "Isn't a Swiss Army knife without a blade like fondue without the cheese or yodeling without the mountains?" Indeed, it is! But here we are, faced with a sleek and slim profiled piece of equipment that's gone rogue.

The Jetsetter boasts functionality such as scissors and a screwdriver, and claims to "go everywhere you do." Well, I suppose that's true if you're headed to a place where actual cutting isn't required. But let's be honest, a bladeless Swiss Army knife is like a raclette without the potatoes!

In these times of unprecedented innovation (or should I say, creative missteps?), we need to embrace our Swiss characteristics – our ingenuity, practicality, and love for traditions that have served us well for centuries. Remember, it was our ancestors who gathered on the Rütli Meadow to stand up for what they believed in, and now it's our turn to stand together against the bladeless revolution.

Let's show Victorinox that while we appreciate their creativity, a Swiss Army knife without a blade is a step too far! Join our petition to bring back the blade and preserve the essence of our iconic tool. After all, what would MacGyver say?

New Swiss study on ticks finds nearly all carry pathogens 18/11/2023 BY  LE NEWS   LEAVE A COMMENT A recently published study shows 84% of ticks collected in urban areas and 77% of those in rural areas in Switzerland contained at least one non-viral pathogen in addition to a number of viruses. Almost every tick has the potential to make you sick, said Cornel Fraefel, a virologist from the University of Zurich who was involved in the study. The most common bacteria found were from the Rickettsia group. These pathogens can cause a whole range of diseases that can cause fever, chills and headaches and were found in 70.8% of the ticks. Borrelia, which is responsible for Lyme disease, was found in many ticks. In urban areas, 8.2% contained the disease and in rural areas 1.9% did.
